Joy Stables

Owner/Trainer:  ALICE JOY

My name is Alice Joy, I am 17 and I am currently eventing at the preliminary level with my main horse Destination Unknown (Doey) who is currently for sale and I am looking for a new intermediate/advanced level horse to compete.  I am also competing at training level, moving up to Prelim this fall with my very promising 6 yr old Willow May (May May). In addition I have several sale horses that I am training and showing locally.

I have always loved riding, starting when I was in third grade - lessons with instructor Suki Flash. I have had many great opportunities since then.  I leased my first horse, Billy, a MorganXPercheron for one summer.  In fifth grade I traveled for six months and rode western in the mountains and canyons of New Mexico and helped out at a horse/dog rescue, Castaway Treasures, in Tucson, AZ.  After returning to VT we moved to Joy Stables along with my first horse Buttercup Milly who I evented for several years. Then the horses started mulitiplying from their!

I summer at the family farm (Joy Stables) located in Charlotte, VT and I winter in Aiken, SC where I have been a working student for Heidi White for 2 winters, last winter with my two main horses Doey and May May. I compete all winter in Areas 2 & 3 with Heidi as my trainer then In May home to VTand training with John Bourgoin. This winter however I was competeing in AIken with four of my horses and takeing lessons from Heidi White and staying at Buckleigh Estates and spending time around many different upper level riders.

I am a dedicated young rider and I hope one day to compete at the four star level.  I love sharing my knowledge with my students and training and caring for the animals who come my way.  Look for me in the future!

2009-2010:

I competed prelim all season with Doey and May May and did very well placing fourth overall as a Junior Prelim rider in Area I. I also decided to do some H/J and am leasing a wonderfull EQ horse, (Calypso) and have been riding at Summerwood Farm. I am doing very well, qualifing and riding in New Englands and am going to Florida to compete in Ocala for a month.
